Warm Up Winter with Classical Music Donations

As the temperatures plummet, make our mercury rise!

Wrap yourself in a blanket and join us today on The Classical Network as we start striking our flints. We’ll do our best to keep you glowing with musical selections calibrated to warm the heart. In turn, we’re hoping that you’ll reciprocate by contributing a little fuel of your own.

Cocoa and hot cider are all well and good, but what we’re really looking for is kindling for this furnace that allows us to generate a perpetual bouillabaisse of the world’s great music. Like the taste of our cooking? Do we fill your home, car or workplace with delectable intimations of comfort and satisfaction? It is only made possible thanks to financial gifts from generous listeners like you. Please consider calling us right now at 1-888-232-1212, or donating online at wwfm.org.

We’ve really tried to space out our fundraising this year, so that you’re not besieged by nonstop talk. After all, it is the music that unites us. We hope that in between these special membership dates you’ve been able to enjoy some truly substantial programming – that you have been able to catch up with some old musical friends, been exposed to something new, and been moved by the music in perhaps unexpected ways.

We at The Classical Network try to cover the broadest possible spectrum of classical music. Much of it you are unlikely to encounter anywhere else. Certainly, you won’t find it in such profusion on any other full-time, professional radio station. It’s a luxury from which we all benefit, thanks to the relative autonomy granted WWFM’s hosts. We select our own music; we put together our own programs. We pride ourselves in keeping it lively, while still honoring the canon and all the great music that got us passionate about this exciting and ever-expanding art form in the first place.

So put on your flannels and get ready to enjoy a cozy afternoon. Get to know our hosts and more about our mission. Most of all, enjoy the music. But please do so by becoming a member in good standing.

You can follow our progress by checking the membership thermometer on our website. Every donation makes our mercury rise.

Let’s make it a tropical heatwave. Call us now at 1-888-232-1212, or contribute online at wwfm.org.

Our sincere thanks to YOU for supporting WWFM – The Classical Network. YOU are what makes us great.

  • Halloween Radio Spooktacular & Membership Drive

Halloween Radio Spooktacular & Membership Drive

    Happy Hallowe’en!

Andy Williams may not exactly be in agreement, but for me it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

I hope you’ll join me extra early today on The Classical Network, as I take to the air (and not just on my broomstick), beginning at 2:00 EDT, for an extended spree of Hallowe’en mischief. We’ll enjoy a veritable monster mash of music about goblins and ghosts, sorcerers and psychos, maledictions and mephistos – a phantasmagoric playground for those of us with impish dispositions.

Sounds like great fun, doesn’t it?

Alas! Like Norman Bates and the floors of his family motel, along the way, we’ll still need to mop up the remaining dollars from last week’s membership campaign shortfall.

The good news is we are now only a few thousand dollars shy of our budget. Can you help us out? The sooner we drive a stake through the heart of this drive, the sooner we can gorge ourselves on Kit-Kats and roar cackling through haunted landscapes.

Today is the last possible to day to reach our goal. What are you waiting for? It’s not like we’ll be taking your pledge in blood on human parchment – although we do hope you will opt to become a sustaining member. Call us now at 1-888-232-1212 or join us online at wwfm.org.

    Keep us ALIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

As the capstone to our comedy of terrors, on this week’s “Music for Marlboro,” we’ll surrender to the delirium of moon-drunk madness with Arnold Schoenberg’s whacked-out masterpiece, “Pierrot Lunaire.” We’ll hear it performed at the 1969 Marlboro Music Festival by sprechstimme soloist Shirley Sudock and an instrumental ensemble made up of world class musicians, including flutist Paula Robison, clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, violinist (and violist) Felix Galimir, cellist Ronald Leonard, and pianist Murray Perahia.

    Trick or treat? Perhaps both!

There will be plenty of chills and candy corn. Join me for an extended ride through haunted houses, twisted psyches, and infernal regions. I’ll be ringing your doorbell and running, from 2 to 7 p.m. today, on WWFM – The Classical Network and wwfm.org.

    Tchaikovsky Wins WWFM Membership Drive

Tchaikovsky shares our elation at having concluded another successful membership drive. The votes were tallied, and Ol’ Peter Ilych pulled ahead of Johannes Brahms to be voted the more popular of today’s two famous birthday celebrants among our listener-members. Thank you to all of you who elected to get in on the fun. There certainly were plenty of tempting thank you gifts to get lost in this time around. If you didn’t have a chance to donate, you may still do so and pick up a special token of our appreciation by visiting wwfm.org. Peter Ilych and we are grateful for your support of WWFM – The Classical Network.

WPRB Membership Drive Last Day Support Classic Ross

This is it – the final day of the WPRB Membership Drive. Hopefully you’ll have something left for the mighty Classic Ross Amico.

Take a gander at our special thank you premiums, lovingly assembled in a photo album on my Facebook page, and pledge your support of independent radio. These gifts will be available only during my time on the air this morning, from 6 to 11 EDT. Quantities are limited, and they are only available to those who phone. My apologies to those who plan to pledge online. I’m thankful to you, too!

Sunday Morning Opera’s Sandy Steiglitz will be my co-pilot this morning, and Classical Discoveries’ Marvin Rosen will be helping me out on the phones. Please call 609-258-1033 and make a pledge in whatever amount. No pledge is too small, but intriguing thank you gifts are available for any pledge over $45.

Help this clean-up batter not to strike out. Listen in at WPRB 103.3 FM or at wprb.com. We’ll be sampling from the thank you gifts all morning long. Thank you for your support, and here’s to another year of great radio, on Classic Ross Amico!
