This morning I learned that St. Patrick was 120 when he died. Imagine how long he might have lived, if only he’d laid off the corned beef.
Raise a glass to Ireland’s patron saint and enjoy a touch of the Oirish with my weekend shows, now archived on the WWFM website.
“The Lost Chord” is the more reflective of the two, with meditations on Irish folk songs by Chicago-area composer Edward Joseph Collins (1886-1951). Good for a rainy morning in the Trenton-Princeton area. Listen to “Irish Ties Are Smiling” here:
“Picture Perfect” lends more of a pop-cultural perspective, with two films on Irish themes scored by John Williams (for “Angela’s Ashes” and “Far and Away”) and two directed by John Ford (“The Informer” and “The Quiet Man”). This is a good one to take with Irish coffee – or perhaps something a little stronger.

I wish I could say I’m medicating against snake-bite. But St. Patrick has already seen to all that.
I’ll be here, doing my best to set a Guinness world record, if you know what I mean. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and yours.
