Naïve fellow that I am, I actually thought that maybe my impressions of this past weekend at the Bard Music Festival would be ready to post today. It turns out I’ve got more to say than I thought I would (at five screens in Word and counting)! Go figure. So I’ll likely wind up posting them in several parts, starting tomorrow.

In the meantime, here’s another candid shot, a reunion with Mather Pfeiffenberger, whom I met at last year’s festival, “Martinů and His World.” Mather is a very knowledgeable guy, who interviewed Aaron Copland, attended Leonard Bernstein’s Norton Lectures, and hounded a cantankerous Walter Piston for his autograph (twice). Though he now lives in DC, he continues to do occasional radio work for Harvard’s WHRB, including, recently, a multi-day Copland salute and a special America 250 presentation for July 4th.

It was nice to have a chance to catch up at Bard. “Mozart and His World” will continue in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, through Sunday.
