Support Classical Music on The Classical Network

The grasshoppers are about to put away their fiddles and the birds take their songs south, but you can count on The Classical Network to continue to provide a stable home for beautiful music throughout the year.

At the touch of a button or the click of a mouse, you’ll be able to enjoy the artistry of the great composers, performers and ensembles, both of the past and of the present day, through cherished recordings and the latest releases, exclusive interviews and broadcast concerts.

This bounty is made possible only through the generous support of loyal listeners just like you. And we never take it for granted. Thanksgiving may still be weeks away, but already we are here to express our gratitude to you, our friends, for keeping classical music available in our community for the past 37 years.

Help us celebrate the abundance of wonderful programming we all rely on every day to enrich the quality of our lives by helping us to meet our financial goals. Our hosts will be popping up occasionally with on-air reminders, beginning today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. EDT. Call us now at 1-888-232-1212 or make a donation online at wwfm.org.

Renewed memberships, first-time contributions, additional pledges, vehicle donations, and estate planning – all are gratefully received and acknowledged. Please help us to fortify ourselves against the colder months by guaranteeing the security and enjoyment of uninterrupted classical music.

Thank you for your ongoing support, from all of us at WWFM – The Classical Network and wwfm.org!

  • Classical Music Summer Escape No Travel Needed

Classical Music Summer Escape No Travel Needed

Any exciting trips planned for the summer? You don’t need a plane ticket or even a car to be transported.

We know the music we share on The Classical Network has the power to take you places. Whether your thoughts are guided by descriptive titles (“Capriccio Espagnol,” “Hungarian Rhapsody,” the “Grand Canyon Suite”), your intellect engaged by the trajectory of a symphony or a fugue, or your sense of fantasy stirred by a transcendent performance, we are your source – and destination – for great music.

We at The Classical Network are always happy to do the driving. But this week we’re asking you to chip in for the gas. After all, it is the end of our fiscal year. Your gift in any amount will make you a member, and it will ensure that we have enough fuel for our continuing adventures. Call us today at 1-888-232-1212, or donate online at wwfm.org.

With WWFM – The Classical Network, you never have to worry about what to pack. We depart this afternoon at 4:00 EDT. With your help, we will go far. Thank you, as always, for your support!

  • Bach 500 Help WWFM Unlock $17K Now

Bach 500 Help WWFM Unlock $17K Now

Help us to get our affairs in order. Be one of the last of the “Bach 500.” 500 listener contributions IN ANY AMOUNT will unlock the Bach Pot. That means NOW $17,000 in challenge money for the station, which will enable us to celebrate the genius of Johann Sebastian Bach without fundraising interruptions. We’ve got only about 130 contributions to go at this point. It’s hero time! Click on “donate” at wwfm.org, or call 1-888-232-1212.

Again, it doesn’t matter how much you give in order to be counted toward the 500. All that matters is that we reach 500 contributions. Once that happens, everything will be in its proper place. Restore order to our existence!

I’ll be on the air today from 3 to 5:00 p.m. EDT. Less talk and more music, that’s my motto. Help make it happen. Thank you for your support of WWFM – The Classical Network and wwfm.org!

  • St Valentine Skull Classical Music and Mortality

St Valentine Skull Classical Music and Mortality

Roses are red; Rosses are blue.

Here’s my annual posting of the skull of St. Valentine. Think of it as a memento mori.

Relationships die. You’ll die. I’ll die. Everything and everyone we’ve ever cared about will be gone eventually. But while we’re here, we can at least keep classical music on the radio.

Call now and make your Valentine’s donation to WWFM – The Classical Network at 1-888-232-1212. Or be bitter like me, circumvent humanity, and contribute online at wwfm.org.

Thank you for ensuring a modicum of beauty in our bleak existence.

  • Halloween Radio Spooktacular & Membership Drive

Halloween Radio Spooktacular & Membership Drive

    Happy Hallowe’en!

Andy Williams may not exactly be in agreement, but for me it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

I hope you’ll join me extra early today on The Classical Network, as I take to the air (and not just on my broomstick), beginning at 2:00 EDT, for an extended spree of Hallowe’en mischief. We’ll enjoy a veritable monster mash of music about goblins and ghosts, sorcerers and psychos, maledictions and mephistos – a phantasmagoric playground for those of us with impish dispositions.

Sounds like great fun, doesn’t it?

Alas! Like Norman Bates and the floors of his family motel, along the way, we’ll still need to mop up the remaining dollars from last week’s membership campaign shortfall.

The good news is we are now only a few thousand dollars shy of our budget. Can you help us out? The sooner we drive a stake through the heart of this drive, the sooner we can gorge ourselves on Kit-Kats and roar cackling through haunted landscapes.

Today is the last possible to day to reach our goal. What are you waiting for? It’s not like we’ll be taking your pledge in blood on human parchment – although we do hope you will opt to become a sustaining member. Call us now at 1-888-232-1212 or join us online at wwfm.org.

    Keep us ALIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

As the capstone to our comedy of terrors, on this week’s “Music for Marlboro,” we’ll surrender to the delirium of moon-drunk madness with Arnold Schoenberg’s whacked-out masterpiece, “Pierrot Lunaire.” We’ll hear it performed at the 1969 Marlboro Music Festival by sprechstimme soloist Shirley Sudock and an instrumental ensemble made up of world class musicians, including flutist Paula Robison, clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, violinist (and violist) Felix Galimir, cellist Ronald Leonard, and pianist Murray Perahia.

    Trick or treat? Perhaps both!

There will be plenty of chills and candy corn. Join me for an extended ride through haunted houses, twisted psyches, and infernal regions. I’ll be ringing your doorbell and running, from 2 to 7 p.m. today, on WWFM – The Classical Network and wwfm.org.
